Diocletian’s palace and the old town have been on the UNESCO list since 1979. (Croatians are proud of the fact that more than a dozen locations in this small country found their place on this prestigious list!) With a population of 170 000 people, Split is the second largest city in Croatia.
It is the fusion of the old and the new that leaves everyone impressed. People have always lived in this palace – that’s why it’s still standing! Little stores, restaurants, private apartments – all within the ancient walls of the Roman emperor’s palace…
We all travel to see new things and new places. Split, the capital of Dalmatia, is a must! Nowhere in the world can you see the late antique architecture so marvelously preserved!
